Top Nigerian table tennis players, including national star Matthew Kuti, are set to compete in the 11th edition of the Elicris Table Tennis Cup, scheduled for December 22 and 23 at the Molade Okoya Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

The annual tournament, sponsored by the Babatunde Abayomi Adejobi (BAA) Foundation, will bring together elite and emerging players from across the country, as it serves as one of the final major national table tennis events of the year.

Speaking ahead of the competition, the organisers reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) and creating opportunities for players to gain exposure and improve their competitive edge. The tournament has continued to grow in profile, attracting some of the best talents in the country.

NTTF President Adesoji Tayo praised the consistent support of the BAA Foundation, describing the Elicris Cup as a vital platform for discovering new talents while also keeping established players active at a high level. He noted that grassroots and youth development remain key priorities for the federation.

Also reacting, Lagos State Table Tennis Association Chairman, Tunji Lawal, welcomed the national status of the competition, stating that the expansion beyond Lagos has helped deepen competition and uncover promising players from different parts of Nigeria.
