Written by on 29 — 08

Former Super Eagles striker, Anthony Ujah, has officially called time on his professional football career at the age of 34.

In an emotional statement released on Friday, Ujah expressed gratitude to God, his family, former clubs, coaches, teammates, and fans who stood by him throughout his journey in the game.

“Today, I make the toughest decision of my life, retiring from professional football,” Ujah said. “Fulfilling a childhood dream of playing for my country, the Super Eagles, is one I will forever cherish.”

The forward, who represented Nigeria at international level and enjoyed a successful club career across Europe notably in Germany and Norway described football as more than just a profession, but his “passion, identity, and home.”

Reflecting on his playing days, Ujah admitted he would miss the emotions of the game, from dressing room banter to goal celebrations.

“I will truly miss the emotions, the atmosphere, the dressing room laughter, the celebrations, and even the hard days that made the good ones sweeter. A new chapter begins, but my love for football will never end,” he added.

Ujah’s career spanned more than a decade, featuring in top-flight European leagues where he became known for his work rate, commitment, and sharp goal-scoring instincts.
