Atalanta Coach Jurić Quells Rumours After Heated Substitution

Atalanta head coach Ivan Jurić has dismissed talk of a fallout with Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, following a tense exchange during the club’s recent Champions League outing.
Lookman, who has endured a slow start to the season after a failed summer move to Inter Milan, appeared frustrated when he was substituted for Yunus Musah in the second half. Cameras caught Jurić pulling the Super Eagles star by the arm as he walked off, an action that instantly sparked rumours of a rift between the pair.
Adding fuel to the fire, Lookman reportedly unfollowed Atalanta’s official Instagram page and wiped all club-related posts from his social media , a move that may have set tongues wagging across Italian and Nigerian football circles.
However, Jurić was quick to downplay the tension when speaking to reporters in Italy.
“He always works well. That reaction is something that can happen every now and then,” Jurić said. “There’s no problem between us. I hope he continues to rise because he’s an important player for this team.”
The Croatian tactician also praised the collective spirit of his squad, adding that moments of passion are part of what keeps the group motivated.
“This team gives me great feelings,” he continued. “I’ve only had to raise my voice a few times this season, that tells you about their commitment.”
Lookman, one of Atalanta’s standout performers last season, has struggled to replicate his blistering form since returning late to pre-season. Still, the 26-year old remains a key figure for the Bergamo side amid whispers of a potential January exit.
