Bayern Munich Step Up Chase for Ademola Lookman as Transfer Deadline Nears

Bayern Munich have intensified their interest in Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, with the Bundesliga giants now considering a loan move with an option to buy before the summer transfer window closes.
The 27 year old Atalanta star has been at the centre of transfer speculation throughout the summer, attracting strong interest from several European clubs. Bayern’s latest approach comes after uncertainty in their pursuit of Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, forcing them to explore alternative attacking options.
Lookman has been one of Serie A’s most consistent performers since joining Atalanta, scoring 52 goals and providing 25 assists in 118 appearances. His most iconic moment came in May 2024, when he netted a stunning hat trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, securing Atalanta’s first ever European title.
Earlier this summer, Inter Milan tabled a €45 million bid, comprising €40 million guaranteed and €5 million in add-ons and even reached personal terms with the player. However, negotiations stalled as Atalanta held firm for a figure closer to €50 million. Arsenal, Liverpool, and PSG have also monitored his situation but are yet to make concrete moves.
With the transfer deadline looming on September 1st, 2025, at 20:00 CET, Bayern are now pushing to secure Lookman’s signature in a deal that could initially see him move on loan, with a purchase clause included.
Lookman, recently crowned African Footballer of the Year, remains under contract at Atalanta until 2026, but his future looks set to dominate the final hours of the transfer market.
