Galatasaray head coach Orkan Buruk has provided a positive update on Super Eagles’ striker Victor Osimhen ahead of their UEFA Champions League opener against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Osimhen, 26, picked up a minor ankle injury during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying win over Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. The knock forced him to miss the Super Eagles’ next match against South Africa, as well as Galatasaray’s domestic outing against Eyüpspor.
Despite those setbacks, Buruk has confirmed that the striker is making progress and could be ready in time for the crucial Group Stage clash in Germany.
“Osimhen is improving, and we are hopeful he will be available. His situation will become clearer in the coming days, but there’s a good chance he will play,” Buruk told reporters.
The Nigerian forward has a strong record against Frankfurt, with three goals in his last three appearances against the Bundesliga side. His availability would provide a huge boost for the Turkish outfit as they seek a positive start to their European campaign.
The Turkish champions will face Eintracht Frankfurt at the Commerzbank Arena in what promises to be a thrilling contest.
