Former Fenerbahçe striker, Serhat Akın, has showered high praise on Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, describing him as the best centre forward to ever play in the Turkish Super Lig.
Akın, who knows the league inside out after years of playing at the top level in Turkey, spoke passionately about Osimhen’s impact at Galatasaray. The Nigerian striker has been unstoppable since moving to the Turkish giants, with his goals, energy, and fighting spirit transforming Galatasaray’s attack.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Akın didn’t mince words:
“For me, Osimhen is the greatest striker ever to play in this league. His energy, hunger, and attitude are simply world class. If I were a coach, I’d be extremely proud to have a player like him, he’s my dream striker.”
The former Turkish international also compared Osimhen to Galatasaray captain Mauro Icardi, who has been one of the league’s biggest stars in recent years, but insisted that Osimhen offers much more in terms of work rate and overall influence on the pitch.
“Icardi has done well and scored many goals for two seasons, but Osimhen is something else. He’s powerful, quick, and plays with real passion. You can tell he gives everything for his team,” Akın added.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray in a record breaking move worth €75 million, has continued to justify his price tag this season with consistent performances both in the league and in Europe.
The Nigerian striker has already hit six goals in the Champions League, including key strikes against Liverpool and Bodø/Glimt and recently became the first Galatasaray player to score in seven consecutive European matches.
His blistering form has not gone unnoticed back home and across the continent, as he remains one of the frontrunners for the 2025 CAF African Footballer of the Year award.
At this rate, Osimhen isn’t just making history, he’s redefining what it means to be a top striker in Turkish football.
