Fans Advise Rivers United on How to Survive CAF Champions League Group Stage

Following the official release of the CAF Champions League group stage fixtures, Rivers United supporters have taken to social media, X in particular, to rally behind their team while offering tactical advice on how the Pride of Rivers can make it out of the group.
One of the fans, identified as @TheHalhaji9, outlined a simple but strategic plan for the Nigerian side; win all home matches and fight for qualification early.
“The plan is simple. Win all your home games and stand a big chance of qualifying to the next round. We all know how tough away games to North African teams are, so it’s safe to see them as losses or draws already. The main focus should be those home games, you have to WIN!” he wrote.
Another supporter, Mastasinachimykiel Michael, shared words of encouragement, urging the team to believe in their strength despite facing strong opponents.
“Wishing Rivers United all the best! May we have a successful Champions League ahead. Tough opponents indeed, but as we always say, ‘Naija no dey carry last’ River United, bring it on’.
Others echoed similar optimism. A verified user, GAS , kept it short: “All the best.” While another fan, HiSExcellency of Pitakwa, emphasized the club’s resilience, saying: “Tough group but Rivers is tougher.”
Rivers United, Nigeria’s sole representative in this season’s CAF Champions League, are bracing for a challenging campaign against some of Africa’s top clubs. But with this kind of belief from their supporters, the Port Harcourt based team will be hoping to turn that encouragement into results on the pitch.
