Galatasaray Compelled To Wait Until End of September For Osimhen’s Return

Written by on 21 — 09

Galatasaray have been dealt a major setback with star striker Victor Osimhen sidelined until the end of September due to an ankle injury.

The Nigerian forward picked up the knock during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, initially walking off the pitch without much concern. However, further examinations confirmed the injury was more serious than expected.

Since returning to Istanbul, Osimhen has already missed the Süper Lig clash with Eyüpspor and Galatasaray’s 5-1 Champions League defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. He is also expected to sit out league fixtures against Konyaspor and Alanyaspor.

The 25 year-old is now targeting a return for Galatasaray’s Champions League showdown with Liverpool on September 30, a fixture that could prove pivotal in their group stage campaign.

Osimhen’s absence is a big blow for the Turkish champions, who rely heavily on his goals and physical presence in attack as they push for success both domestically and in Europe.
