Gary Lineker Apologizes to Victor Osimhen After Champions League Heroics Against Liverpool

Written by on 4 — 10

England football legend Gary Lineker has publicly apologized to Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen following the forward’s stunning performance in Galatasaray’s 1–0 victory over Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.

Lineker, who had previously questioned Osimhen’s consistency in big matches, admitted on his podcast “The Rest Is Football” that he was wrong about the Super Eagles star.

“I need to apologise to Victor Osimhen. I once said he goes missing sometimes, but that’s completely not the case,” Lineker said. “Victor, if you’re listening, I’m sorry about that. You shouldn’t spout rumours on these things, my bad on that.”

The former England striker went on to praise Osimhen’s qualities, describing him as “quick, tall, a good finisher, brilliant in the air and a hell of a player.”

Lineker’s remarks come after Osimhen’s man of the match display against Liverpool, where he scored the decisive goal and dominated the Reds’ defence throughout the game.
