Nigeria’s women’s national rugby team, the Green Falcons, maintained their winning momentum with a solid 24–8 victory over Ghana in the second leg of their international friendly series played at the Alaro City Rugby Pitch, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
The match, played on Saturday, October 11, 2025, saw the Falcons assert dominance once again after their emphatic 40–0 triumph in the first leg earlier in the week.
Although Ghana produced a more organised and competitive performance this time, the Nigerian side powered by speed, teamwork and tactical superiority proved too strong, sealing another deserved win in front of an excited home crowd.
Unlike the one sided first leg, the Ghanaian team tightened their defence and managed to breach Nigeria’s line twice, scoring eight points through determined forward plays. However, the Green Falcons’ superior organisation in set pieces and quick ball movement ensured they maintained control throughout the match.
Team Nigeria’s consistency was highlighted by strong performances from the backline, who converted sustained pressure into points at crucial moments. The Falcons’ forwards also dominated scrums and lineouts, keeping the visitors on the back foot for most of the encounter.
Officials of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) commended the team’s discipline and determination, describing the series as a “successful preparation phase” ahead of the upcoming World Rugby Series in Canada.
The friendly matches, they noted, provided an opportunity for new players to integrate into the national setup and for coaches to fine tune tactics ahead of international engagements.
