Monaco End Osimhen’s Hot European Run with Narrow Win

Written by on 10 — 12

Victor Osimhen’s run of goals in European competition was brought to a halt on Wednesday night as AS Monaco edged Galatasaray 1–0 at the Stade Louis II.

The French side secured victory through Folarin Balogun, who struck the decisive goal in the 68th minute. Balogun, once eligible to play for Nigeria before committing his international future to the United States, made the difference in a closely fought contest.

Osimhen, who had found the net in eight straight European matches before this fixture, endured a frustrating evening in front of goal. The Super Eagles striker remained involved and attempted five shots, but was unable to register a single effort on target as Monaco’s defence held firm.

The defeat marks a pause in what had been an outstanding European scoring spell for Osimhen, while Monaco’s win strengthens their position in the competition. Galatasaray will now turn their focus to recovery as they prepare for their next European assignment.
