Nigeria Aquatics Federation Confirms Two Swimmers for 2025 Africa Junior Open Water Championships

Written by on 25 — 11

The Nigeria Aquatics Federation has confirmed that promising swimmers Olaiya Timileyin and Daniel Udoh will represent the country at the 2025 Africa Junior Open Water Championships, scheduled for November 28–30 in Conakry, Guinea.

The duo has been undergoing intensive training in Lagos since early November as part of a structured national preparation programme. They are expected to depart Nigeria on November 27, 2025.

According to the Federation’s President, Dukwu Nnamdi Chamberlain, the participation of the young swimmers is strategically aligned with Nigeria’s build-up to the Africa Youth Games slated for December 10–20, 2025, in Angola.

Chamberlain explained that exposing athletes to top-level continental competitions ahead of major events is central to the Federation’s development blueprint. He noted that the Open Water Championships will not only sharpen their competitive instincts but also strengthen Nigeria’s prospects at future international competitions.
