Nigerian Midfielder Shola Ogundana Joins Dynamo Kyiv

Ukrainian giants FC Dynamo Kyiv have completed the signing of Nigerian youngster Shola Ogundana on a four year deal from Brazilian club Flamengo.
The 20 year old midfielder, born on February 22, 2005, in Ifaki, Ekiti State, began his football journey at Beyond Limits Football Academy before moving to Alex Transfiguration Academy, where he impressed scouts at the 2022 Torneo di Viareggio.
Ogundana later featured for Remo Stars in Nigeria before sealing a loan switch to Flamengo in April 2023. His outstanding displays convinced the Brazilian club to secure his permanent transfer in July 2024.
During his time with Flamengo’s youth setup, Ogundana achieved remarkable success. He lifted the Copa Libertadores Sub-20 in 2024 and 2025, also clinching the Under-20 Intercontinental Cup in both years. His outstanding form saw him named Best Player of the 2025 Copa Libertadores Sub-20.
Nicknamed the “Nigerian Rocket” for his explosive pace and attacking flair, Ogundana scored 9 goals and provided 7 assists in 46 appearances for Flamengo’s U-20 side. He made history on November 14, 2024, when he debuted for Flamengo’s senior team in Brazil’s Série A, becoming the first Nigerian and only the third African player to represent the club.
Dynamo Kyiv confirmed the deal with Flamengo retaining 50% of his economic rights.
