Nigeria’s Youth Table Tennis Team Denied Visas for ITTF World Youth Championships

The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) has confirmed that the country’s youth team, scheduled to participate in the ITTF World Youth Championships in Romania from November 23 to 30, has been denied entry visas.
The team, led by reigning West African champion Kuti Matthew, earned qualification after winning both the U15 and U19 boys’ team events at the 2025 ITTF Africa Youth Championships in Lagos. Their victory secured Nigeria’s place on the world stage, but the unexpected visa refusal has now forced the ITTF to replace them with reserve teams from Egypt and Tunisia.
The development marks a major setback for the young athletes, who had fought their way through continental competition to secure their spots at the global event. Their non participation means Nigeria will miss out on representation in key youth categories this year.
