Osimhen Inspires Nigeria to Thrilling Extra-Time Comeback Over Gabon

Written by on 13 — 11

The Super Eagles of Nigeria roared back to life in Rabat with a pulsating 4–1 extra-time victory over Gabon, booking their place in the World Cup Africa Play off final.

It was a night that tested Nigeria’s resolve and character. After a cagey first half that saw both sides struggle to find rhythm, the breakthrough finally came in the 78th minute when Akor Adams smashed home after beating the Ganonesse goalkeeper to give Nigeria a deserved lead.

But the celebrations were short lived. Gabon’s experienced midfielder Mario Lemina stunned the crowd with an equalizer in the 89th minute, forcing the game into extra time and momentarily silencing the Nigerian bench.

However, that setback only ignited the fire in the Super Eagles. Substitute Chidera Ejuke restored Nigeria’s lead in the 97th minute with a composed finish before Victor Osimhen took command of the night. The Galatasaray striker was simply unstoppable, netting twice in quick succession (102’ and 110’) to seal a dominant finish and send the Nigerian fans into wild jubilation.

By the final whistle, it was clear: this was enfatic win. The Super Eagles will now look ahead to the next hurdle in the final on Sunday November 16th 2025.

Final Score:

Nigeria 4–1 Gabon (AET)

Goals: Adams (78’), Ejuke (97’), Osimhen (102’, 110’) – Lemina (89’)
