Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu Ojim has reportedly completed a move to Bulgarian First League side Botev Plovdiv, as he seeks to revive his career after a difficult spell in recent years.
Born on 26 August 1997 in Aba, Abia State, Kalu began his football journey at GBS Academy before making his European breakthrough with AS Trenčín in Slovakia. His talent soon earned him a move to KAA Gent in Belgium, and in 2018 he sealed a high-profile transfer to Bordeaux in France for a reported €8 million.
Kalu went on to join Watford in January 2022 on a three-and-a-half-year deal, though playing opportunities were limited. He later spent time on loan with Lausanne-Sport in the Swiss Super League, before parting ways with the English side.
The 26-year-old, who is primarily deployed as a winger, has also represented the Nigerian national team, earning 16 caps and scoring twice for the Super Eagles.
After several months as a free agent, Kalu is now set for a fresh start in Bulgaria, with multiple media reports indicating that he has signed a long-term contract with Botev Plovdiv.
