Super Eagles’ Star Shine In Fullham’s Nine Goal Thriller

Written by on 3 — 12

Fulham delivered a spirited late surge but ultimately fell 5–4 to Manchester City in a pulsating Premier League encounter on Tuesday night.

Despite trailing 5–1 with less than 20 minutes to play, Marco Silva’s men mounted a dramatic fightback driven by outstanding performances from Nigerian duo Samuel Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi, who contributed three of Fulham’s four goals.

City raced to an early lead and appeared on course for a routine victory when Erling Haaland and his teammates extended the scoreline to 5–1. However, Fulham’s resurgence began in the 57th minute when Alex Iwobi fired home a low driven shot from outside the box to reduce the deficit. His goal sparked renewed energy within the squad.

Substitute Samuel Chukwueze then turned the match on its head with two quick-fire goals. The winger struck in the 72nd minute, reacting sharply to a loose ball inside the area, before adding a second six minutes later with a powerful drive into the bottom corner. His brace lifted Craven Cottage and set up a tense finale as Fulham pushed for an improbable equalizer.

Defender Calvin Bassey featured for the full 90 minutes, anchoring the Fulham backline in a match dominated by open play and relentless attacking transitions.

City ultimately held on, but Fulham’s late rally ensured the match will be remembered as one of the season’s most dramatic contests, with Chukwueze and Iwobi emerging as standout performers despite the defeat.
