Lagos State athletes competing in the Deaf Athletics category made an impressive statement at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, clinching a total of 10 medals across various track events.

Leading the charge was Fabowale Akorede, who stormed to double victory, claiming gold medals in both the 100m and 200m Deaf Boys’ finals. His outstanding performance set the tone for Lagos’ dominance on the track.

Ogwuch Samuel also had a remarkable outing, securing gold in the 400m, silver in the 100m, and bronze in the 200m, underlining his versatility across sprint distances. In the same 400m final, Adeleye Sultan added a bronze medal to the tally.

In the girls’ category, Odilah Josephine blazed to victory in the 100m final, clinching gold. Atakpeku Emmanuella delivered two podium finishes with silver in the 200m and bronze in the 400m, while Abdulwasiu Summayah took silver in the 200m.

Overall, Lagos Deaf Athletics closed their events with an impressive haul of 4 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals, reinforcing the state’s reputation as a powerhouse in youth sports.
