Nigerian sprint star Udodi Onwuzurike launched his campaign in the men’s 200m at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships, securing a solid second place finish in his opening heat.
Onwuzurike clocked 20.27s, crossing the line behind American sprinter Kenny Bednarek, who took victory with a time of 19.98s.
The result sees the 21 year old Nigerian advance confidently as he continues his push for a place in the semifinals and potentially the final, as he looks to make history for Team Nigeria.
