Werder Bremen Coach Criticises Boniface After Freiburg Defeat

Written by on 24 — 09

Werder Bremen head coach Horst Steffen has expressed disappointment with Victor Boniface’s performance during the club’s 3-0 defeat to SC Freiburg at the Weserstadion on Saturday.

The Nigerian forward, who came on as a second-half substitute, was singled out by Steffen for not maintaining his positional discipline.

“For me, he was too all over the place. It’s okay for him to remain stationary in the centre. It wasn’t how I wanted it to be,” Steffen said after the match.

The coach, however, stressed that Boniface was not the only player guilty of drifting out of position.

“A lot of the guys weren’t staying in their positions. We must stick to our spaces in order to create overloads against the opponent,” he added.

Bremen conceded twice before Boniface’s introduction and later fell to a third, leaving them winless in the Bundesliga fixture
