Nigerian boxer Zainab Adeshina has spoken with pride and emotion after securing a silver medal at the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Still basking in the moment, Adeshina said stepping into the ring for Nigeria was an experience she’ll never forget.
“I gave everything for my country. I wanted the gold, but I’m proud of what I achieved. Representing Nigeria, hearing the crowd, it’s something special,” she said.
The determined fighter battled her way through some of the toughest opponents in the women’s 51kg category before narrowly missing out on gold in the final.
Officials praised Adeshina’s courage and commitment, calling her a shining example of Nigerian resilience.
“This silver is a motivation. It’s not the end, I’ll come back stronger and go for gold,” she vowed.
