Chelsea have recalled teenage defender Ishe Samuels-Smith from RC Strasbourg and immediately sent him out on a season long loan to Swansea City.
The 19 year-old only joined Strasbourg in July, but his pathway was complicated after fellow defender Ismael Doukouré decided to remain at the French club. That uncertainty prompted Chelsea to trigger their buy back clause before arranging his temporary switch to the Championship side.
Samuels Smith, regarded as one of the exciting prospects within the BlueCo network, will spend the 2025/26 campaign in South Wales. The deal does not include a purchase option for Swansea, ensuring Chelsea retain long term control of his future.
Elsewhere, Chelsea’s deadline day business saw frustrations for two young players. Tyrique George missed out on a proposed move after paperwork failed to go through in time, while a similar situation ended Mason Fofana’s potential switch to Charlton Athletic. Both are expected to revisit their options in January.
Meanwhile, Chelsea continue to enjoy strong domestic form, remaining unbeaten at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League this term.
