Nigerian club City FC of Abuja were momentarily forced off during a match in their preseason campaign in Tanzania after an unexpected swarm of bees interrupted their clash with JKU Sport Club of Tanzania.
The unusual scene unfolded in the 77th minute, when the insects invaded the pitch. In a bid to stay safe, players, coaches, match officials, supporters, and even media crews quickly dropped to the ground until the swarm moved on.
Once order was restored, the match continued without further incident. City FC eventually held their nerve to record a 2-1 triumph, sealing an important win in their preseason build up despite the unusual disruption.
