Nigerian striker Victor Boniface made headlines over the weekend after providing a superb assist just minutes into his debut for Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. The Super Eagles’ forward who came off the bench in the second half, needed only six minutes to deliver a decisive pass that set up Justin Njinmah in Bremen’s 4-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Shortly after the game, Boniface took to his official Twitter account with a cheeky post: “Unserious student don do assist ooo,” a light hearted clapback at critics who have questioned his focus and consistency.

While Boniface continues to shine at club level, from his successful spell at Bayer Leverkusen to his bright Bremen start, his performances with the Nigerian national team have drawn mixed reactions. Despite several appearances for the Super Eagles, the striker is yet to open his goal account, sparking conversations about his role in the squad.
In an earlier interview, Boniface admitted the pressure of expectations but stressed that the team’s success is not dependent on him alone, citing the depth of Nigeria’s attacking options.
