Seventeen-year-old Brazilian sensation Estevão wrote his name into Chelsea folklore on Saturday evening, scoring a dramatic stoppage-time winner to hand the Blues a thrilling 2–1 victory over Liverpool in a Premier League classic.
The encounter had everything brilliant goals, high intensity, injuries, and even a managerial red card, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.
Chelsea made a blistering start, pressing high and unsettling Liverpool’s usually composed defense. Their early energy was rewarded in the 14th minute, when Moisés Caicedo unleashed a stunning long-range strike that flew past Mamardashvilli, giving the Blues a deserved lead.
Liverpool, however, came alive after the break. The visitors raised their tempo and were finally rewarded in the 63rd minute when Cody Gakpo finished off a neat move involving Alexander Isak, leveling the score at 1–1. At that stage, Liverpool looked the more threatening side, pushing Chelsea back with wave after wave of attacks.
The hosts’ problems deepened when defensive injuries struck. Both Josh Acheampong and Benoît Badiashile were forced off, prompting manager Enzo Maresca to reshuffle his backline. Reece James was deployed in an emergency center-back role as Chelsea dug deep to stay in the game.
As the match ticked into stoppage time, a draw seemed inevitable. But then came the moment Stamford Bridge will remember for years. In the 95th minute, substitute Marc Cucurella delivered a low cross into the box, and Estevão reacted quickest, sliding the ball past Alisson to spark wild celebrations across the stadium.
The goal Estevão’s first senior strike for Chelsea, not only sealed a dramatic win but also showcased the teenager’s incredible composure under pressure.
Liverpool were left stunned, while Chelsea’s fans celebrated a victory that could prove crucial in their push for the top four.
