Nigeria’s Super Eagles appear to be back on track in their World Cup qualification campaign under the guidance of new coach Eric Chelle, following a remarkable turnaround in form.
Before Chelle’s appointment, Nigeria had endured a difficult start under Jose Peseiro and Finidi George, managing just three points from four matches.
Under Jose Peseiro, the Super Eagles were held to two disappointing draws:
Nigeria 1–1 Lesotho
Zimbabwe 1–1 Nigeria
That early struggle continued under Finidi George, who picked up just one point in two games:
Nigeria 1–1 South Africa
Benin Republic 2–1 Nigeria
However, Eric Chelle’s arrival has completely changed the team’s fortunes. The new coach has led Nigeria to an unbeaten run in six matches, securing 14 points in the process. His results so far:
Rwanda 0–2 Nigeria
Nigeria 1–1 Zimbabwe
Nigeria 1–0 Rwanda
South Africa 1–1 Nigeria
Lesotho 1–2 Nigeria
Nigeria 4–0 Benin
