Wolves Protected by Contract Clause, No Payout Expected For Vítor Pereira

Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially parted ways with head coach Vítor Pereira, ending his short and turbulent spell at Molineux. The Portuguese tactician, appointed earlier this year, departs after a string of disappointing results that left the club hovering in the relegation zone.

While the announcement itself wasn’t entirely unexpected, reports from British media have revealed a significant twist, Pereira will not receive a compensation package, thanks to a clause in his contract tied to team performance and league position.

According to The Guardian and talkSPORT, the clause allows Wolves to terminate the manager’s deal without financial penalty if certain benchmarks, including points per game and results over a specific period were not met. This clause, negotiated by the club’s legal team, was inserted to protect Wolves from heavy payouts following previous costly managerial changes.

In his farewell message, Pereira described his time at Wolves as a “privilege,” saying:

“It has been a privilege to manage Wolverhampton Wanderers and experience unique moments with this club and its supporters. I would like to thank the club’s owners for their trust, the players for their hard work and commitment, and all the staff for making me feel part of the family.”
