Abia Comets Set the Pace with Full Medical Screening Ahead of New NNL Season

Written by on 10 — 11

In a show of professionalism and player welfare, Abia Comets FC have carried out a full round of electrocardiogram (ECG) and medical tests on both new signings and retained players as preparations intensify for the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season.

The comprehensive assessment, held in Umuahia, covered key health areas including cardiovascular screening, physical fitness evaluation, and general medical examinations, all aimed at ensuring every player is match fit and ready for the long season ahead.

Speaking about the initiative, Club Chairman, Chief Boniface Alozie Uche, emphasized that the move reflects the club’s “unwavering commitment to professionalism and player safety,” in line with NNL’s mandatory health protocols.

“We’re not just preparing to compete, we’re preparing to compete safely and responsibly,” Uche said. “Our focus is to have a healthy, motivated squad ready to give their best when the season begins.”

With the tests now completed, attention turns to the pitch as Abia Comets gear up for their season opener, a Southern Conference A Matchday 1 showdown against Smart City FC of Lagos. The match is scheduled for Saturday, November 15, at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, where fans will be eager to see a refreshed and battle ready Comets side begin their campaign.
