Nigeria’s Senior Men’s Handball Team, the Golden Arrows, will have their work cut out for them after being placed in Group A of the 27th Africa Men’s Handball Nations Cup, scheduled for January 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda.
The draw, conducted on Friday in Kigali, pits Nigeria against host nation Rwanda, seven-time African champions Algeria, and Zambia, a combination that sets the stage for a fiercely competitive opening round.
For Nigeria, the tournament comes at a moment of renewed belief. The Golden Arrows impressed at the last edition in Cairo, where they won the President’s Cup after a spirited 31–27 victory over Libya. Although they finished 9th overall, their resilience and improved team chemistry signaled a team on the rise.
