Victor Osimhen has been honoured as Sportsman of the Year at the 2025 GQ Türkiye Men of the Year Awards, cementing his status as one of the most influential footballers in the Turkish Super Lig. The prestigious ceremony took place on Wednesday night in Istanbul, celebrating top achievers across sports, entertainment, and culture.

The Nigerian striker earned the award following an exceptional 2024/2025 campaign with Galatasaray, where he delivered one of the most dominant individual seasons in the club’s recent history. Osimhen scored 37 goals and provided seven assists in 41 matches, powering Galatasaray to a domestic double; the Turkish Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup.

His performances not only strengthened Galatasaray’s dominance but also set a new benchmark for foreign players in the Turkish league. The club had earlier secured his signature from Napoli in a move widely reported as a record transfer valued at around €75 million.

Osimhen has carried his momentum into the current season, recording 11 goals in 14 matches and maintaining his reputation as the league’s most decisive finisher.

In his acceptance speech, the 26-yearold expressed gratitude to GQ Türkiye, Galatasaray, and the club’s supporters, promising to continue delivering top-level performances.

The ceremony also recognised other notable personalities, including actor Aras Aydın (International Achiever of the Year), actress Sinem Ünsal (Woman of the Year), singer Edis (Music Person of the Year), and Bahtiyar Büyükduman (Chef of the Year), according to GQ Türkiye’s official awards list.
