Super Eagles’ Collective Strength Shines as Four Players Claim Man of the Match Awards

At the ongoing AFCON 2025 in Morocco, the Super Eagles of Nigeria have played five matches, showcasing not only strong teamwork but also outstanding individual performances across the squad.

So far, four different Nigerian players have won the Man of the Match award, a clear indication that excellence is coming from multiple positions on the pitch.

Defender Semi Ajayi delivered an impressive performance at the back against Tanzania, earning him the Man of the Match recognition. In attack, Ademola Lookman has been outstanding, claiming the award twice following his influential displays against Tunisia and Mozambique.

In midfield, Raphael Onyedika dominated proceedings against Uganda, controlling the tempo and shielding the defence and a brace, which earned him his own Man of the Match award. Victor Osimhen also led the line with authority against Algeria, capping his performance with a Man of the Match honour.

These performances has to a large extent shown the depth and balance within the Super Eagles squad. At the biggest football tournament on the continent, Nigeria are not reliant on a single star player; instead, the defence, midfield, and attack are functioning cohesively.
