Egypt Hit by CAF Sanctions Ahead of Nigeria Clash

Egypt will face Nigeria without two key players after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) handed suspensions to Marwan Attia and Salah Mohsen ahead of their highly anticipated showdown with the Super Eagles.
The disciplinary action follows Egypt’s semi-final defeat, with CAF ruling that both players breached conduct regulations. Attia was cited for an inappropriate gesture directed at match officials, while Mohsen was sanctioned for misconduct towards the media.
As a result, the duo will miss the third-place playoff against Nigeria, a decision that significantly weakens the Pharaohs’ midfield and attacking options. Head coach Hossam Hassan is now forced into last minute tactical adjustments for the encounter.
Nigeria, meanwhile, will look to capitalise on Egypt’s setback as both sides aim to end their AFCON campaign on a positive note.
