Nottingham Forest Sack Ange Postecoglou After Defeat to Chelsea

Written by on 19 — 10

Nottingham Forest have parted ways with manager Ange Postecoglou following their 3–0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, a result that extended the club’s poor run of form in the Premier League.

The decision was confirmed in an official statement released by the club, which read:

“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.”

Postecoglou’s dismissal comes just 39 days after his appointment, making it one of the shortest managerial reigns in Premier League history. The Australian coach took charge of Forest on September 9, 2025, but failed to register a single win during his brief tenure, with the team enduring an eight-match winless run.

According to reports, there are indication that Forest’s hierarchy grew frustrated with the team’s lack of improvement and opted to act swiftly after the defeat to Chelsea.

The 60-year-old had signed a two-year contract upon arrival at the City Ground, and while the club has not disclosed details of his severance package, it is expected that he will receive a significant compensation payout in line with his contractual terms.

Postecoglou, who previously managed Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic, leaves with Forest sitting near the relegation zone and facing yet another managerial rebuild.
