Super Eagles defender Ryan Alebiosu attracts Everton, Genoa interest

Written by on 15 — 05

Super Eagles defender Ryan Alebiosu has drawn attention from several clubs in Europe’s elite leagues after a standout season with Blackburn Rovers.

The 24-year-old right-back was a key performer for the Riversiders during a challenging campaign, playing a pivotal role in helping the team narrowly avoid relegation from the Championship. Blackburn concluded the season just five points above the relegation zone.

Alebiosu arrived at Blackburn last summer from Belgian side KV Kortrijk in a €576,000 deal and has since seen his reputation grow significantly. Over the course of the season, he featured in 39 matches, scoring once and providing five assists, while earning acclaim for his defensive discipline and consistent performances.

His impressive displays have reportedly secured him a spot in the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and attracted interest from notable clubs across Europe. Among them, Premier League side Everton and Serie A club Genoa have been linked to the Nigerian defender in recent months.

It’s reported that Genoa made a bid for Alebiosu during the January transfer window, but Blackburn turned down the offer. With the club aiming to improve their financial position after a disappointing Championship campaign, there’s speculation they might now entertain the prospect of selling him during the summer transfer window.

Sources from Football Insider suggest Blackburn have placed a €4.9m price tag on Alebiosu, having rejected an identical bid earlier this year. Though there is no immediate pressure to sell given that the player is contracted for another two years, this valuation appears accessible for the top-tier clubs currently tracking his progress.
